Where I Can Be Me

Diane Barber

About Me

I’m Diane. I have been with my husband since early 2005 and we have been married since October 2011. We met through our sisters and have been inseparable ever since.

In 2010, we bought our first and current home. A nice townhouse which needed some work. It was a bank-owned property which had some upgrades such as new countertops and appliances. However, there is still plenty of work to be done.

We welcomed our son on May 13, 2014 and he has been such a blessing ever since. I resigned from my position as a government contractor so I could be a stay-at-home mom. We went from having two incomes to just one, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. This is something both of us wanted from the moment we got together. It only took 9 years to make it happen.

However, now that I am home everyday my creative juices are flowing. I try really hard to keep my projects to a minimum in price. Sometimes it’s easy…other times not so much.

I’ve decide to start this fun website after my husband started his web development business as a side career. I’ll be documenting projects I’ve done and the ones I’m beginning, in the middle of and stuck on. I’ll also be sharing the stores I frequent and their locations or just the general area since some of my purchases are from antiques stores.

I hope you stick around to see everything from projects to my life. You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

Ready for an update

It’s been 3 months since my last post and it has been a long time. Eli is now a year old. He walks very fast but is not running…yet. I’m still not working out at all. I do eat smaller portions at all my meals, so that has helped a lot. I don’t...

Napkin Flower Centerpiece

I feel in love with a project that the Shanty2Chic sisters did. So I showed my dear hubby the photo and told him I wanted to do this. Well, that’s as far as the conversation went for a while. Then last weekend we decided it was time to do the project. I could...

Magnetic Chalkboard Wall Frame

Back in 2013, I really wanted to paint our kitchen since it was still white and needed some color and I really wanted a magnetic wall. The only problem was I didn’t fully think it through or fully read the directions on the paint can. Fast forward two years and here I...
