"Where I Can Be Me"

I recently did this project after seeing and pinning the pin from Pinterest. I’ve wanted to do this for some time now and figured since my son was very happy in his jumperoo, now was the time.

So, I went and gathered the supplies I needed, which were the following:
my butter dish (which I washed in the dishwasher the night before);
permanent markers; and,
a new stick of butter.

I laid the stick of butter down in the middle of the dish and used the fine permanent marker to make dots for where the tablespoons line up.

Next I took the big permanent marker and drew a thick line down. I thought this is all I would need…but is it ever? Nope! It needed more.

So I used the fine permanent marker and wrote how much a 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup and a 1/2 cup equaled to tablespoons (exactly how it was written on the butter wrapper).

That was enough for the bottom of the dish… But now I wanted to do something to the cover.

So I went and found my silver metallic permanent marker and free handed our last name. I even did the est. date of 2011 (when I officially became a Barber).

I placed the bottom and top pieces in a cold oven next to each other. Now it was time to preheat the oven to 375 degrees for 30 minutes. This will make the markings permanent. After the 30 minutes, turn off the oven but don’t open the door. You want to let the pieces cool down in the oven.

Over all, I’m happy with how it turned out and they are holding up good. I just don’t quite understand why butter dishes don’t already come with this information written on them. Maybe one day they will.
