Now that we are a family of three, we needed matching Christmas stockings. The ones we had for the past three years I will always love and would have stuck with them but Wal-Mart decided to change their stockings after three years. Oh well.
I had been looking online and at every store we went to that might possibly have some. Never saw anything I loved. Then a trip done to Hobby Lobby changed all of that. I just love this store.
I’m not even the one that picked them out! Believe or not, it was my husband. I love him! We even picked out enough for two future kids…because he knows we would have to pick out new ones if they stopped carrying these.
We picked out the letters we needed in 4-inch wooden letters. I had already thought about painting them white and I figured that’s all I needed to do. So, I painted two coats of white acrylic paint on the letters I needed.
But something was missing. The letters needed more. I tried painting on our names but I didn’t like how it looked and so I covered that with a thick coat of white paint.
In comes my wonderful Cricut machine. My husband was so sweet and gave this to me for Christmas one year. I am so thankful because it has come in handy recently. I even signed up for their monthly subscription so I have access to so many cartridges.
Anyhow, I found the Holly leaves and the berries that go with it. I re-sized the image to where I think they would fit in the letters. I have red and green scrapbook page that I placed on the cutting mat.
They came out perfectly. I love watching the machine cut the shapes. It’s so neat.
I used my mod podge to secure them to the letters and my mini hot glue gun to secure them to the stocking.
I’m in love with these and I’m so excited to see them on my fireplace mantel with all the Christmas decorations up.
